BENEFITS OF OLIVE OIL BOTH IN ISLAMIC AND WESTERN EDUCATION : UPON BREAST CANCER BY IBRAHEEM KHALID EL'HASSAN
Olive Oil Compound Eradicates Breast Cancer Stem Cells:
Cancer Stem Cells are by far the most difficult type of cancer cell to kill. They easily escape the effects of chemo through “self renewal” and are the cause of cancer relapses which can happen years after the initial tumor is destroyed.
But now researchers have found that a major polyphenol from extra virgin olive oil called oleuropein wipes out 97% of breast cancer stem cells in a test tube. Most remarkably, mice that were fed oleuropein had tumors 94% smaller than untreated mice. And while untreated mice had all passed away 64 days after tumor implantation, those treated with oleuropein were all still alive after 100 days.
Not surprisingly, olive oil has been linked with lower breast cancer risk in many human population studies. For example, one European study showed that women getting 21 grams daily of olive oil (about two tablespoons) had 71% less risk of breast cancer. And olive leaf extract fans take note: oleuropein is the main active compound in olive leaf extract, making this natural medicine an intriguing potential anticancer superstar.
